Assignment 1 - Head and Shoulders Student: ~Don46 Original: [link]
Alright, so this is our very first assignment completed! Great job on this ~Don46!
Ok members! This is your first chance to show us your mad critiquing skillz!! Don't forget, you get 2 points for every critique you give! Remember, be constructive. Tell the artist what they can do to improve in a positive way!
I won't be replying to any of the comments here, I'll leave that option up to ~Don46 if he wishes to do so!
Hey. Well done. I like how you drew in some ear guides.
For the horizontal lines you used to disect the head, I know everyone has a different way (I've seen quite a few) but you could try using them as guides for the eyes and mouth. I've found it's a lot easier to add brows and a nose once the eyes and mouth are locked in, instead of trying to fit them in later.
Good job. Your guidelines for the heads are well done. Eye and mouth placement are also good.
For the shoulders I noticed you used a connect the dots method. You might find it easier to draw the entire torso lightly as a kind of cylinder shape (it's kinda hard to describe in words). That way you could get a more curved kind of look. That's the way I do it anyway, so it might work for you or might not.
