:gallery:Greetings and welcome to Class 37!:gallery:

(I know what you're thinking...why Class 37? I'll be honest, I have no idea. I needed a name, and this popped into my head...sorry about the lame-osity of it!)

This club is for artists of all levels who want to improve! No more being afraid to give honest critiques to your fellow artists! No more wondering how you can improve your own art! In Class 37, we'll try to have an open and encouraging dialogue going between artists.

The basic idea is that assignments (which are not mandatory to complete...but you do get points for doing so!) will be given out (1 or 2 per month) and members will submit their work to our gallery. Then, each piece will be critiqued by other members. This serves two purposes:
:bulletpurple: The artist will gain insight as to how they can improve.
:bulletpurple: The critiquers will learn the valuable art of constructive criticism.

Anyways, that's enough yammering out of me! Take some time to look around the club, and if you think it's for you, check out the rules for joining!

Joining
1. Add us to your friends list!
2. Add our icon to your journal!
3. Send us a note titled 'Joining'
4. As soon as we get your note and see our icon in your journal, you will be enrolled in the First Year of Class 37!!

Assignments
1. Send a note titled 'Assignment #(whatever number it is)'
2. Make sure there's a working link to your entry included in the note!
3. Please make all your links to deviantART submissions. No links to other image-hosting sites please!

Critique
1. Don't be afraid to critique somebody just because you think they are 'better' than you are. Everybody has something valuable to say, and we want to hear from all of our members!
2. Members may answer to critiques on their own pieces.
3. Any 'I'm better than you so you really shouldn't be talking' garbage, and you will be expelled. Nobody is so good that they are above advice.
4. Although links will be provided to the original pieces, members are encouraged to critique the deviation here at Class 37, rather than at the original. (that's the only way you get points!)
5. There is a difference between constructive criticism and being a jerk. For example:
:bulletgreen: Constructive: I like how you did the pose of the character. One thing you could do to improve it though is work a little more on the shading. It would really add a lot if there was more contrast between light and dark areas.
:bulletred: Jerky: This isn't very good at all. There is nothing constructive about a comment like this. What makes it not good? How can it be improved? Can you recommend any exercises to help the artist with similar things in the future?
So basically, don't just say that something isn't good. Give a little more. And it's never a bad thing to say one thing you like about the drawing as well. :)

Contests
1. Same format rules as for assignments. (must be link to dA page)
2. Send note with link titled 'CONTEST'
